As much as I look forward to summer vacation, I think I may be looking more forward to school starting back this year than ever before. Why? Because if school doesn't hurry up and start my tiny heiney is going to be one gigantic inflated fleshy dimply juicy booty!
This summer we vacationed with other families and my 6 and 9 year old kids were surrounded by kids eating a bunch of crap. Crap is the nicest possible word.
In years past, we've controlled their diet pretty well but when you go on vacation with other families who eat sugar and processed foods as if it might ..... might..... be never again available (is that happening? is there a high fructose corn syrup shortage that I just don't know about?) it's really hard to be the parent who is suggesting carrots and ranch! My husband and I tried our best but our kids may have a cavity or two they didn't start the summer with. And of course, it's just as hard on the parents as it is on the kids. So, I don't think I came back with any cavities but I definitely came back with some wiggle jiggles I didn't purchase as souvenirs.
We got home late Saturday night and I told the kids as I tucked them into bed, "tomorrow, it's on like donkey kong." They had no idea what I was talking about. I said the same sentence to my husband and I could tell by the way he rubbed his belly and said yep he immediately knew what I was talking about. We both were looking forward to getting back into a healthy routine. A few days into water drinking, metabolic research center protein drinks, lots of fresh veggies and lean protein, I've got to say healthy food has never been more comforting.
Tomorrow school starts for us and it will be even easier to get back onto a healthy regimen. Thank goodness there'll be no more carnival food, beach food, snack food and as a bulldog fan, my favorite, gator on a stick!
At least until next summer :)
