Don't worry! You won't need the Body Fluid Cleanup Kit after this. We're doing a simple brain dump! My favorite tool for getting a handle on overwhelm!
Go somewhere quiet, set a timer for 10 minutes, and write down every unfinished task, commitment, responsibility, chore, etc. that you have. This is not a time for complete sentences and grammar checks. JUST GET IT OUT! Click here for a link to my brain dump!
It may take a minute to let your brain fully get into a rhythm so don't worry if it takes a minute to get into this. And, if you finish early, stay seated until your timer goes off, letting thoughts wander in and out of your mind. You may have a few lingering tasks that will pop up.
When you are done, take a big breath and look at your list. Are you able to group the items into categories? If so, assign a color, or a letter (A,B,C), or cut and paste them into sections. For me, I have business and personal. Then I divided up my personal into sub-categories. Do whatever makes sense for you. Then pick one thing you can accomplish right now and cross it off your list! I like to highlight mine :) Whew! See mine as an example.
Hang on to this list because we are going to work off of it for the next few days. You will be amazed at how much easier you find it is to accomplish things when you are not worried about dropping the ball or forgetting something. Sometimes just knowing you have a plan is enough to reduce those nagging feelings of overwhelm. Hopefully, you feel better already!
